Washington, D.C., May 5, 2026 — Last night, the American Coatings Association (³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø) presented Mary Garceau, Senior Vice President, Chief Legal Officer and Secretary for the Sherwin-Williams Company, with its Industry Champion Award. Garceau was honored during ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ꿉۪s Industry Awards Dinner, held prior to the American Coatings Show in Indianapolis.
The Industry Champion Award recognizes excellence in advancing the industry’s policy interests and priorities. Garceau has been an active member of ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ꿉۪s Legal and Government Affairs Committee since 2017, and served as Chair from 2019 to 2025. Throughout her service, she provided insightful input and direction for ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ꿉۪s Amicus Program. This program enables the association to share its views with courts on cases with significant implications for the paint and coatings industry.
As committee chair, Garceau facilitated ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ꿉۪s engagement in efforts to combat government agency overreach, as well as misguided efforts by states to enact general jurisdiction laws. In her service to ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø, she was the consummate industry champion, sharing her expansive legal acumen with the committee and piloting ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ꿉۪s participation in numerous amici filings across federal and state jurisdictions.
Garceau is Chair of the National Association of Manufacturers’ Legal & Policy Committee, and serves on the Board of Directors of the Ohio Manufacturers Association. She earned a B.A. in Political Science from the University of New Hampshire, and a J.D. from Vanderbilt University’s School of Law.
The American Coatings Association (³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø) is a voluntary, nonprofit trade association working to advance the needs of the paint and coatings industry and the professionals who work in it, including: manufacturers, raw materials suppliers, distributors, and technical professionals. ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø serves as an advocate and ally for members on legislative, regulatory and judicial issues, and provides forums for the advancement and promotion of the industry and coatings science.
