³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø Announces Call for Papers: 2027 CoatingsTech Conference
³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø is seeking submission of abstracts for its 2027 CoatingsTech Conference, which will be held March 15-18 at the Loews Hotel in Kansas City, Mo. Abstracts will be accepted through Sept. 24, 2026.
Names in the News July 2026
RPM International Inc. has named David C. Dennsteadt as president and chief operating officer, effective July 17, 2026. As president and chief Operating officer, he will oversee RPM’s operating groups and corporate development activities. Dennsteadt has held several leadership roles since starting as an engineer with the RPM’s Stonhard business in 1995. He served as group president of RPM’s Performance Coatings Group (PCG) from 2018 to 2025, when he was elected RPM executive vice president. Dennsteadt holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Rutgers University and an MBA from New York University’s Stern School of Business.
Stonebridge Coatings Laboratory Expands
Stonebridge Coatings Laboratory, Inc., an independent ISO 17025 accredited testing laboratory and consulting company, has expanded its Howell, Mich. facility.
Lubrizol and Grasim Inaugurate Plant in India
Lubrizol, together with Grasim Industries Limited, inaugurated a Chlorinated Polyvinyl Chloride (CPVC) resin manufacturing facility in Vilayat, Gujarat, in India. According to the company, the new plant, along with the recently enhanced CPVC compounding capacity at Lubrizol’s Dahej facility, creates one of India’s most scalable and integrated CPVC manufacturing footprints, reinforcing leadership in high-performance plumbing and piping solutions.

³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø-supported 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act Becomes Law
On July 11, the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act — a landmark bipartisan housing package that ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø championed — became law. ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø had actively supported and advocated for legislation that will expand and preserve the country's housing supply, improve housing affordability, and drive job growth.
Compliance Date for National Aerosol Rule Moved to January 2027
On July 2, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) published in the Federal Register interim final action to revise the compliance date in the recent amendments to the national aerosol coatings rule. In response to industry concerns, EPA is delaying the compliance date from July 17, 2025, to Jan. 17, 2027.
PHMSA Issues Notices of Proposed Rulemaking Aimed at Reducing Regulatory Burdens
On July 1, the U.S. Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) issued several notices of proposed rulemaking (NPRM) in the Federal Register aimed at reducing existing regulatory burdens that impact our industry. Notably, one of the NPRMs responds to a petition ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø filed in 2017.
California’s DTSC Proposes to Add Microplastics to Candidate Chemicals List of Safer Consumer Products Program
California’s Department of Toxic Substances (DTSC) is proposing a definition of microplastics, and the addition of microplastics to the candidate chemicals list under California’s Safer Consumer Products Program. The agency is accepting comments on the proposal through Aug. 4, 2025.
SCAQMD Public Hearing for Proposed Amendments to Solvent Cleaning Operations Rule Set for June 6
California’s South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) on May 6 issued a notice of public hearing for Proposed Amended Rule 1171 (Solvent Cleaning Operations). The district has also published the draft rule language and draft staff report on its website.

Stahl Expands Packaging Coatings in Brazil
Stahl, a provider of specialty coatings for flexible materials, has signed an agreement to acquire the graphics coatings business of Weilburger Coatings in Brazil. This expansion follows earlier ones in Germany and Turkey.
WACKER Opens New Production Site for Specialty Silicones
WACKER officially opened a new production site for silicones in Karlovy Vary, the company’s second site in the Czech Republic.

³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø presented Dave Penichter — who retired as director of business development for Specialties at Univar Solutions last year — with its Distinguished Service Award. Moore received this recognition during ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø’s Industry Awards Dinner, held prior to the American Coatings Show in Indianapolis.
³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø Honors Meika Vogel with Industry Achievement Award
³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø presented Meika Vogel, Vice President & General Counsel at Diamond Vogel, with its Industry Achievement Award. Vogel received this honor during ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø’s Industry Awards Dinner, held prior to the American Coatings Show in Indianapolis.
